We are excited to announce that three research papers with authors from TCR have been accepted for presentation at the FERC 2024 software conference! The conference, scheduled for July 9-11, 2024, focuses on enhancing real-time and day-ahead market and planning efficiency of the bulk power system through improved software. The conference is a great opportunity for industry experts to collaborate and drive innovation in software for the bulk power system. TCR’s papers are summarized below and are available in the Supplemental Notice. Stochastic Nodal Adequacy Pricing Platform The Stochastic Nodal Adequacy Pricing Platform (SNAP) extends traditional production costing tools by incorporating probabilistic analysis, enabling high-fidelity modeling of operational and grid constraints. SNAP evaluates the economic value of each resource's contribution to system adequacy, providing critical insights for system planning and operations. Evaluating Benefits of Long Duration Energy Storage Long Duration Energy Storage (LDES) is crucial for decarbonizing the electric sector by managing weather-driven energy needs and reducing investments in energy production and transmission. Our methodology integrates multiple modeling techniques to assess LDES benefits across various time scales within a large regional electricity market. Utilizing Locational Marginal Emission Rates to Achieve Decarbonization Goals This paper explores the use of Locational Marginal Emission Rates (LMERs) to enhance decarbonization efforts by providing granular insights into emission impacts. By integrating LMERs into market operations, we facilitate informed decision-making for resource dispatch and investment, optimizing both environmental and economic outcomes. We are excited to share these insights with the attendees at the FERC 2024 software conference. We hope to see you there!
